Saturday, August 24th was a beautiful sunny day. I met Sadie in the morning with her bridesmaids, where they were getting ready for the big day at her grandparents' house. As is usually the case on wedding days, the bride was just glowing. Her excitement was palpable and I already knew this day was going to be an amazing experience.
The ceremony was being held on their land in a quiet, intimate setting. Sadie and Drew have a daughter together who was also getting a first look with both of her parents! It was just the most adorable moment.
The couple wrote their own personal vows to read aloud during the ceremony. This is one of my favourite things about weddings, when two hearts and souls express their love for each other. It is truly a privilege to be able to witness so many stories of love and sincerity in my line of work.
The wedding reception was in a unique location, upon the rooftop of the Ponoka Stampede. We had a roof overhead and were partly sheltered from the elements, which seemed of little concern on such a sunny day. But this is Alberta and immediately after supper we were caught amid a storm.
Luckily this passed us by within an hour or so and the sun returned, as did the most beautiful double rainbow. Now if that's not lucky, I don't know what is!
I'm so glad I was able to meet these two families and capture this special moment in their lives. Congratulations Sadie and Drew!
