Josh and Melissa - Medicine Hat Ranch Wedding

How often is it you get to see the groomsmen arrive at the wedding ceremony galloping in on horseback? In my eight years experience filming weddings, I can say not very often!

That was one of many reasons why I was so excited for Josh and Melissa's big day. Part of the joy of my job is going on adventures with couples, and the badlands were a new experience for me. Being based in Edmonton, I don't get to see the southern part of the province very often, and this was my first time ever in Medicine Hat. It was a lot dustier than I'm used to, that's for sure!

I love the vast open landscapes, they set the scene of an epic romance. In fact, I felt like I was living in a real life western throughout the day! It was breathtakingly beautiful.

I was very saddened to hear from Melissa that she lost her brother several years ago and he would never get to see her wedding day, but she did drive to the aisle in his black truck, which was an incredibly moving moment.

My second shooter John and I had fun after the ceremony getting some amazing shots of the groomsmen riding their horses. This was such an exhilarating experience for me as I grew up around horses and miss them enormously. Give me a saddle and stirrups over a fast car any day!

As the evening finally came to a close, I felt warm and fuzzy after spending the day with beautiful people and capturing their most precious memories on film. Once again, I feel like I have the most incredible job in the world. There is nothing I would rather be doing, and no adventure I would rather be on than telling another love story in this beautiful country.
